Mixing Window Treatments In The Home

Table of Contents

Often clients find us through social media. Consumers count on the experiences of others to determine which companies they should invite to their homes.

This was the case when a young couple in a new custom home in Hinsdale, IL, called us. Having done their research, this couple had an idea of what they wanted regarding product and look.

It was important not to have anything that looked cheap but also not to go crazy with purchasing the most expensive window coverings for every window in the home. This is an excellent approach for a client-provider relationship.

We will work with you to determine what look works for your home and which product will get you in your price range.

Hunter Douglas Window Treatments

Luminette terra-sagebrush

Our suggestions for this young couple were based on getting the most glamorous look and impact when you first enter the home – an open floor plan in front of a complete wall of windows.

We selected vertical Hunter Douglas Luminette® Privacy Sheers and their horizontal companion Silhouette® Window Shadings across the entire back of the home. It is gorgeous!

Parkland® Hardwood Blinds

There is a bright modern home office in the front of the home. There we kept it modern and bright by going with 2.5” Parkland® Classics Wood Blinds. Going with 2.5” slats was quite fitting for the larger windows and provided a sleeker look, fitting for a more modern room. To keep it luxe, they also selected Silhouette® Window Shadings in the dining room.

On the second floor, we went with the simplicity of honeycomb shades, which have useful top-down/bottom-up and cordless functions. These were important upgrades for blackout, privacy, view, and child safety.

Ecstatic Customer

Our clients said that all these choices were perfect! Any concern about using different window coverings in other rooms was a non-issue. As we explained during our consultations, there are ways to use different window coverings in different parts of the home while remaining mindful of keeping the home neutral to the outside.
